Assam stands forefront in terms of studies from the North east region of the country. The Centre for Open and Distance Learning (earlier Directorate of Distance Education) established in Tezpur University from the year 2011, has contributed significantly in online and distance learning mode of education. The online and distance learning mode has increased the Gross Enrollment Ratio in the state and majority of the population have been recruited by reputed companies on the basis of the degree program that have been issued through different organization accredited by UGC. Companies across the country are recruiting individuals such individuals in various sectors like sales & marketing, financial management, Human Resource management, Operation Management and so on. Full time MBA and Part time MBA courses for Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Human Resource management (MHRM), and Master of Business Management (MBM) etc have been introduced in the educational curriculum of these organizations.
Central University like Tezpur University and State Universities like Gauhati University and Dibrugarh University have been approved and certified as authenticated examination centers for Distance education in management courses. Private organizations like Assam Down Town University and Assam Don Bosco University have also boosted the environment of Distance education in management courses. These organizations have imparted knowledge, awareness and understanding about the subject which has been proved to be beneficial for the students both theoretically and practically. Five different specializations like Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Human Resource management (MHRM), Master of Business Management (MBM) or Entrepreneurship, Finance and International Business Management, Strategic Finance, Risk Management, Retail Management, Pharma Management ,Telecom Management, Investment Management, Operations, HR, Global Markets, Hospital Administration, IT & Systems, Innovation Management have been initiated in the curriculum. The course duration is between 2-3 years with the fees structure in between 1 lakh, the students are employed by various Sales/ Business Development companies.
