Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) came into existence in the year 1961 at Hauz Khas in South Delhi. It is well known for its engineering and technology, research & development in the field of science and also for its Centres of Excellence for training in India.

Under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” IITD was declared as an Institution of National Importance and since then received the status of Deemed University. 

IITD campus offers various facilities to both their staffs and students for both physical development and mental well-being like Hospital, Staff Clubs, Banks, Shopping Centre, Telecom Centre, Stadium, Playing Fields, Post Office, Community Centre, swimming pool, gym, squash courts, music rooms, workshops/ seminar rooms, and other multipurpose rooms for reading and indoor games etc.

IIT Delhi Admission Process

The following are the steps to be followed to complete the application procedure under IIT Delhi, under different programmes:

Candidates are first required to go through the detailed eligibility criteria of the desired course before applying for the particular degree.

Step I: Sign Up

• 1. The candidates are required to first sign up in the using their email id which will later be their user id.

  2. Then a strong password must be created.

  3. While registering, applicant needs to submit, first name, middle name and last name along with date of birth and email id. 

  4. All the details must be submitted correctly. 

  5. Applicants can even retrieve their passwords by clicking on the “forgot password” link.
     
     Step II: Filling of Form

     1. After completing the registration, candidates need to provide all the other important details like educational qualification, experience etc.

     2. The details do not get saved automatically, so the candidates need to click on save and next each time before going to the next page.

     3. After successful completion of form, payment should be completed and finally download the form.

     4. If the applicant forgets to download then they can later login and finally, download the form.

For UG programme, candidates need to apply for JEE Mains. 

For M. Tech and M. Sc programme: Candidates need to apply for JAM and GATE exams.

For MBA: Candidates need to apply for CAT exam.

IIT Delhi Scholarship

Education has always been considered the top most priority for any individual in today’s world. But many individuals due to various financial crisis are unable to complete their educational degree. In order to help such meticulous and hardworking and determined students of the country, various scholarship programmes are initiated by the Institution. Some of the top scholarship programmes that the students can avail after joining the Institution are listed below:

Scholarship for Undergraduate Programmes

Institute Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships:-

This scholarship programme is offered to under-graduate students of engineering and technology background. 25% students can avail this scholarship programme. General/ OBC/ EWS candidates who avail this scholarship programme are paid a total amount of 1000 INR per month. Along with that they are also exempted from tuition fees.

Institute Merit Prizes and Certificates:-

Institute’s Merit prizes and Certificates is provided to the top 7% of the students. This programme can be availed by each of 4-year B. Tech., and 5-year Dual Degree programmes each semester up to the 8th / 10th Semester. The value of merit prize is 2500/- INR.

Institute Free Studentship – Under Graduate:-

On the basis of means alone, the Institute offers free studentship to 10% of the students.

Scholarship provision for SC, ST & PD students:-

Students belonging to ST/ SC/ PD category are exempted from their tuition fees irrespective of their parents’ income. Along with the fees exemption, various other benefits are also provided to the candidates.

Donor Scholarships:

Several trusts, individuals and organizations eve offer scholarship programme to the students which they can take during their course study in the Institute.

Scholarship for Postgraduate Programmes

For M.Sc. Programmes:-

This scholarship programme is offered to postgraduate students of engineering and technology background as well. 25% students can avail this scholarship programme. General/ OBC/ EWS candidates who avail this scholarship programme are paid a total amount of 1000 INR per month. Along with that they are also exempted from tuition fees. Students whose parents’ income is up to 4.5 lac per annum can avail this programme for all categories. This has been prescribed by the Govt of India.

For M. Tech., M.S. (Research) and M. Des. Students:-

No scholarship programme is present for M. Tech., M.S. (Research) and M. Des. Students but a financial assistance is provided to the candidates. Apart from that many other fellowships and research assistantship/ teaching is also offered by the Organization.

For Ph.D. Students:-

No scholarship programme is present for Ph. D Students but a financial assistance is provided to the candidates who go for full time programme only. Apart from that many other fellowships and research assistantship/ teaching is also offered by the Organization.
