Sikkim Manipal University MA in Sociology

1. To promote critical thinking, which is essential for effective participation in professional, personal, and public affairs cultivated through sociological imagination. Unveiling the ability to understand individual and group behavior shaped by historical processes and how personal problems are connected to public issues.
2. How to use theory to conceptualize a problem and to select and organize relevant social facts. Unveiling the ability to use social scientific methods to address sociological questions in recognition of practical and ethical issues.
3. MA Sociology degree holders will have a wide range of careers in areas such as welfare, education, local and central government, social research, non-profit agencies, rehabilitation, social work, urban planning, youth and elderly services, administration, community development, environmental groups, advocacy, etc.

Sikkim Manipal University MA in Political Science

1. Know how a variety of political systems work in the world including that of India.
2. Identify the different institutions of the Government and the role of the Constitution in it.
3. To know about the various concepts and theories to understand and look into a variety of political and social phenomena.
4. Identify an area of concentration for in-depth study, and analyze a variety of political and social phenomena in their selected area
5. Evaluate, critique, and synthesize scholarship in their selected area of concentration.
6. Conduct original research that investigates political or social phenomena in their area of concentration using appropriate methodologies and theories.

Eligibility Criteria for Sikkim Manipal University MA program

A candidate must have passed a Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree with 50% of marks (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC)
