A notice was recently issued by the UGC wherein it declared that UGC NET Exam 2024 has been canceled at one of the centers in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This was sudden news and resulted in many aspirants who were due to take this examination at this center being affected by the decision. The UGC NET exam is of paramount importance for all the candidates who aspire to be Assistant Professors or want to have a Junior Research Fellowship in Indian universities/colleges. This competitive exam is conducted twice every year, and the number of applicants runs into thousands across the country. Reason for Cancellation According to an official statement by UGC, these were because of unavoidable technical issues that cropped up in the Varanasi center. It has not been specified what these problems were; however, it has been confirmed that the faults were serious not permitting the smooth conduct of the examination. Rescheduling of the Exam The exam shall therefore be rescheduled to a later date, the UGC has assured students following this cancellation. An e-mail regarding the new date and examination venue shall be sent to the concerned candidates on their registered email ID and also put on the official website of the UGC NET. Impact on Students
The abrupt cancellation enraged the candidates who were well-prepared for the test. Many shared testifying that they had been very disappointed since they spent so much time and effort to prepare for it. Candidates who spent all their night traveling distances of up to 400 miles to reach the center were told to go back home at a loss.
